We examined the association of common variants at the NPPA-NPPB locus with circulating concentrations of the natriuretic peptides, which have blood pressure-lowering properties. Two different scoring systems have been proposed to estimate difficulty of laparoscopic liver resections (LLR) preoperatively. Summary. Background. Systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and smoking are known predictors of cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Less is known about the effect of lifetime accumulation and changes of risk factors over time as predictors of CVD mortality, especially in very long follow-up studies. Methods. Reduced concentration of ascorbic acid (AA) in plasma is often observed in tumor patients. Besides malnutrition, an increased AA consumption in tumor patients is discussed as a main reason for reduced AA concentration in plasma.
